2016 Jeunes d’affaires Gala

As part of the campaign Devenir entrepreneur propelled by the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Desjardins Group and National Bank, Youth Fusion has created a major project called JEUNES D’AFFAIRES, to enable hundreds of young elementary and high school students to develop entrepreneurial projects in class and after school throughout the school year.

June 1, 2016, at the Bonsecours Market, the project culminated with a unique experience. Each team was facing scenarios replicating the challenges of a young business: communications, advertising, customer relations, financial management, business development and obviously… the unexpected! They have also benefited from the valuable advice of the LNI Theatre to present their business with conviction in front of a renowned jury.

Congratulations to all the participants, felicitations to all the winners and thank you to our valued partners!

2016 Arts & Culture Gala

The young participants of the 2015-2016 Youth Fusion project in visual and digital arts as well as writing and music composition met last May 17, 2016, for a great day of creativity at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. In three hours, they created, in teams, musical, pictorial or digital artworks based on the theme: memory.

Again, we were blown away by their immense talent! The jury – composed of Michel de la Chenelière, Jean-Luc Murray, Jason Cantoro and Matthew Van Vliet – did not have an easy task, having to choose the winners! Congratulations again to all students and thank you for university students and teachers who have made these projects possible, as well as our partners: the Azrieli Foundation, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Simple Plan Foundation, Concordia University, University of Montreal, UQAM and Laval University!

Gala CLIP 2016

CLIP introduces students to the world of cinema and provides them with the opportunity to produce a short film. With the help of coordinators who are university film students, they learn about scriptwriting, film terminology, handling a camera, film industry trades, and skills such as acting, working with sound, lighting, etc. The students essentially get to experience every phase of the movie production process, while also taking on specific roles as members of the production team.

Since September, they worked hard at writing, producing and directing 30 short films of 3 minutes in contention at CLIP Gala held May 12, 2016, at Salle Pierre-Mercure.

Four young students from the Innalik school in Inukjuak (Nunavik) were honoured today for their short film Una Unikkaavut. At once a gripping cry from the heart, an ode to hope and an intimate portrait of and tribute to the memory of their friend Sarah Patsauq, this film by Lucy Gailey Nappatuk, Bobby Idlout, Sarah Naqtai and Peter Nutaraluk speaks to a harsh reality: the suicide rate among Nunavik’s Inuit kids, among the highest in the world, and 11 times above the national average. Their message is about to reach far beyond what the four budding filmmakers could have imaged: it is going to be screened throughout the month of August in several independent movie theatres across Quebec, including Cinéma du Parc, Cinéma Beaubien, Cinéma Pine, Clap and Maison du Cinéma, as the opening film before the feature presentation.

Congratulations to all the participants, felicitations to all the winners and thank you to our partners: the Azrieli Foundation, Cineplex, JA DeSève Foundation, the City of Montreal, the Government of Quebec, Concordia University, Université Laval, University de Montreal, UQAM and UQAT.
