Your role will be to support students to develop a creative and positive association with robotics through a hands-on program supported by FIRST ROBOTICS. As project coordinator, you will provide support to the students and teachers, as they produce a Show Me Poster and a motorized Model made of LEGO parts related to this year’s challenge topic.

  • $17.25 hour
  • October 2019 – May 2020
  • 6 hours per week/program
  • Located in Oshawa, within the Durham District School Board or the Durham Catholic District School Board
  • Possibility of contract renewal
  • Training will be provided in September 2019


  • Having the students benefit from your expertise by putting forward projects that are integrative, stimulating and wide-ranging
  • Working closely with the school’s teachers and administrators, and Youth Fusion officials, in order to maximize the project’s impact and awareness within the school
  • Maintaining a professional relationship with the school (diligent attendance, communications, adherence to the culture and rules of the school environment, etc.)
  • Taking initiative, being creative and a self-starter, in order to effectively contribute to the project’s execution and success
  • Attending team and progress meetings
  • Supervising the students and looking after their safety
  • Drafting the appropriate reports (midway progress and final reports) as scheduled
  • When needed, representing Youth Fusion, the sponsoring university or college or the project itself before our partners

Currently pursuing a university or college education in a field related to mechanics, engineering, science, or tech design


  • Experience working and interacting with children
  • A general knowledge of FIRST Robotics
  • Volunteer work or any other tangible experience working with youth (day or vacation camps, tutoring, etc.)


  • Spoken and written English


  • Strong time management and multitasking strategies
  • Excellent at meeting self-created deadlines
  • Demonstrates a passion for group leadership
  • Knowledge in Suite Office
  • Excellent command of at least one programming language (C++, Java, Python, etc.)


A vulnerable sector screening is required for this position. The process is subject to a confidentiality protocol between Youth Fusion and the local police.
