PROJECT COORDINATOR – MEDIA PRODUCTION – NEW BRUNSWICK

 

As a Youth Fusion Media Production Project Coordinator your primary role is to facilitate integrated classroom learning activities and workshops for elementary students to explore the media-making world, including photography, cinema (fiction, documentary, animation), and journalism. In close collaboration with teachers, media production activities and workshops integrate a variety of interactive audio-visual learning opportunities to enhance collaboration and creativity with young people. Although activities and workshops take place primarily in class, various additional opportunities may arise during the year to maximize student involvement. Student work will culminate in the creation of various media projects related to themes important to youth. Work will be presented during the Annual Youth Fusion Gala which takes place at the end of the school year.

 

TERMS

  • Part-time fixed contract: up to 8 hours per week, per project.
  • Possibility for more than one project.
  • Salary: $14.50 per hour.
  • From September of the current year to June of the following year.
  • Location: Fredericton, New Brunswick.
  • Possibility of contract renewal.
  • Flexible and regular schedule based on availability of coordinator and school site.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To show youth how to use filming equipment, rules related to photographic composition, screenwriting, sound recording, storytelling, interviews, sets, etc.
  • Animate activities to help youth complete all the steps involved in creating several projects related to various audio-visual mediums.
  • Facilitate activities aimed at stimulating and improving the progression of learning while enhancing student competencies in understanding media-making.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Having students benefit from your expertise by encouraging projects that are integrative, stimulating, and diverse.
  • Working closely with teachers, administrators, as well as Youth Fusion officials, to maximize project impacts and awareness within the school.
  • Maintaining a professional relationship with schools (diligent attendance, communications, adherence to the culture and rules of the school environment, etc.)
  • Taking initiative, being creative and a self-starter, to effectively contribute to a project’s execution and success.
  • Attending team and progress meetings.
  • Supervising students and looking after their safety and well-being.
  • When needed, representing Youth Fusion, the sponsoring post-secondary institution, or the project itself before our partners.
  • Drafting the appropriate reports (midway progress and final reports) as scheduled.
  • Prepare for and participate in the year-end events to showcase student successes.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Academic

Currently pursuing a university or college education in film and/or television, or a related field.

 

Experience

  • Experience working and interacting with youth.
  • Experience using film equipment.
  • Scriptwriting, directing and editingknowledge.

 

Will be considered as an asset

  • Experience working with children with learning or behavioural difficulties.
  • Volunteer work and experience working with youth (day or vacation camps, tutoring, etc).
  • Ability to organize and facilitate activities.
  • Must have a strong desire to be a role model for young people and act as an agent of social change.

 

Language(s)

  • Strong spoken and written abilities in English. Although not essential, abilities in additional languages is considered an asset.

 

Computer Skills

  • Office Suite;
  • Adobe Premiere Pro or equivalent;
  • Gimp or equivalent.
