JOB OVERVIEW

This is a leadership opportunity to guide youth through the process of designing a video game from scratch using our awesome easy-to-use web-based platforms. The project is facilitated in conjunction with our partner Ubisoft, who provides professional guidance through the presence of a corporate mentor. The coordinator should guide students through the design process and development of a prototype of their own creation. At the end of the project, it is essential that the students have acquired technical skills and knowledge of the gaming industry.

TERMS

  • Part-time
  • $17.25/hour
  • October 2019- May 2020
  • 10 hours a week
  • Located in Oshawa with the Durham District School Board
  • Training will be provided in September 2019

KEY POINTS

  • Having the students benefit from your expertise by facilitating a program that is integrative, stimulating and flexible
  • Working closely with Youth Fusion management, in order to maximize the project’s impact
  • Maintaining a professional relationship with the school (diligent attendance, communication, adherence to the rules of the space, etc.)
  • Taking initiative, being creative, and self-starting, in order to effectively contribute to the project’s execution and success
  • Supervising the students and looking after their safety
  • When needed, representing Youth Fusion, the sponsoring post-secondary institution, or the project itself before our partners
  • Drafting the appropriate reports (midway progress and final reports) as scheduled

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently pursuing a university or college education in a field related to Game Design, Graphic Design, or Computer Science

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

  • Experience working and interacting with youth
  • Basic programming and scripting skills

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Spoken and written English fluency

SKILLS PREFERRED

  • Strong time management and multitasking strategies
  • Excellent at meeting self-created deadlines
  • Demonstrates a passion for group leadership
  • Knowledgeable in Office Suite
  • Comfortable with Construct 3 (or similar video game editor)
  • Proficient in Photoshop, design and animated sprites and 3D
