PROJECT COORDINATOR – EXHIBITION DESIGN

From September 2021 to June 2022

 

 

Your role will consist in allowing students (Secondary 1-5) to familiarize themselves with the museum field and all that surrounds the creation of an exhibition. To do this, they will create works and showcase them in a local exhibition that they will also design, as well as design a virtual or physical model of their exhibition. Through weekly workshops that will mainly take place in the classroom in close collaboration with the teachers, your role will be to help the students every step of the way, from the development of the exhibition to the creation of the artworks and the organization of the opening.

 

TERMS

  • Part-time: up to 8 hours per week, per project. It’s possible to combine several projects.
    Also possibility of full time 
  • Salary: From $16.00 per hour.
  • Contract duration: September of the current year to June of the following year. Possibility of contract renewal.
  • Employment region: Greater Montreal, North Shore and South Shore.
  • Schedule: Flexible and regular schedule based on availability of coordinator and school site.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop activities that allow the students to acquire skills and abilities associated with art history, artistic creation and exhibition design;
  • Accompany and help the students to accomplish every step and task related to the creation of the final works and the organization of the exhibition;
  • Develop and build a virtual or physical model of the exhibition with the students;
  • Guide the students through a conceptual research of a particular theme.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Having the students benefit from your expertise by putting forward projects that are integrative, stimulating and diverse;
  • Working closely with the school’s teachers and administrators, and Youth Fusion officials, in order to maximize the project’s impact and awareness within the school;
  • Maintaining a professional relationship with the school (diligent attendance, communications, adherence to the culture and rules of the school environment, etc.);
  • Taking initiative, being creative and a self-starter, in order to effectively contribute to the project’s execution and success;
  • Attending team and progress meetings;
  • Supervising the students and looking after their safety;
  • When needed, representing Youth Fusion, the sponsoring post-secondary institution or the project itself before our partners;
  • Drafting the appropriate reports (midway progress and final reports) as scheduled;
  • Prepare for and participate in the year-end events to showcase the students’ success.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Academic

  • Currently pursuing a university education in a field related to digital arts or museology.

 

Experience

  • Experience and skills working with youth.

 

Will be considered as an asset

  • Ability to organize an exhibition or a gallery opening;
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling software such as SketchUp or TinkerCad;
  • Any experience working with children with learning or behavioural difficulties;
  • Volunteer work or any other tangible experience working with youth (day or vacation camps, tutoring, etc.);
  • Ability to organize and facilitate activities;
  • Must have a strong desire to be a role model for the school’s students, and act as an agent of social change.

 

Language(s)

  • Spoken and written English;
  • Spoken and written French (an asset, as some schools are French speaking),
