Going beyond the screen
The media concentration provides students with an opportunity to explore the world of cinema as well as all the components related to this industry's structure. Students get to experience each step of a film production, namely scriptwriting, acting for the camera, handling film equipment, preparing and managing a movie set, seeing to the sound, costume and set design, etc. Other activities may include visual arts, radio club, photography, a mural project or a student newspaper. Through these activities, students will also have the chance to learn digital literacy skills. These include using applications and platforms on the computer or on a mobile device, interpreting the message of a piece of media, analyzing representation in media, and reflecting on how to safely and responsibly consume and create content on the Internet.
