Group 324 is not only a group that loves to work as a team, but that is also able to take on any challenge. Interested in horror stories, the students managed to put themselves in a macabre world where only teamwork is the key to getting through. This story reflects the dynamics seen in the group 324. So close to moving on to a new stage in their lives, which is the high school, they are enjoying their last experiences in elementary school and are looking to motivate others to work hard and as a team. This is how the students were able to be a collective movement in and out of the film.

Group 223 is a group that has been able to stand out for its perseverance and enthusiasm. The group likes to find new ways of expressing themselves and uses these media to find their voice. To do so, making a report on endangered animals was a must. Inspired by Canadian vox pops on language and immigration, the students wanted to share their knowledge and concerns about endangered animals. In addition, they seek to touch the hearts of adults and great nations so they can protect these endangered species. At the end of the day, we can see how they have become a movement to give a voice to those who do not have one.

Group 222 is a group that loves to learn and has a passion for sharing their knowledge and interests. This is a group that has transformed their classroom into a second home where they welcome all individuals warmly. They know no limitations; they are willing to discover and share everything. “Be the Movement” inspired Class 222 to give a message to adults. The Children’s Rights is a project, in collaboration with Family-Children-Networks, that seeks to educate children about their rights. The students wanted to convey their knowledge through a vox pop. You can see how the students use the power of their voices to get this message across. This is how they are all creating a movement to have their rights heard, asserted, and protected.

    Theme

Group 2 at Barclay School is a regular group, where students come from various backgrounds. They are extremely energetic students who have a lot of questions and ideas. They have a lot of imagination and are not at all afraid of horror movies and were fascinated by the movie It with the evil clown Pennywise. Inspired by the two films featuring the famous clown, the students wanted to present the revenge of his sister. The theme of movement can be seen through the lights and camera movements during the filming of Korssa vs. Barclay. Sometimes the movement makes us think of change, so we can also say that the bullying of the young Coralie who, as the film progresses, becomes more and more accepted by the other students is drawn from the theme of movement.

Each week, the students were motivated to learn about the world of media and develop their skills. The group was always involved in discussions and activities in class. In addition, students put their hearts and souls into the design and production of the final media project. Indeed, to create a stop-motion animation, you have to be patient, meticulous and creative. The students from the group T31 stood out for their ability to complete such a large-scale project in just a few weeks. The theme of the year can be found in this animated film since the stop-motion process involves recreating movement through a succession of images. Finally, Lego Wars presents the galactic adventures of five brave Legos men.

Group 3 of Ludger-Duvernay Elementary School is a reception class, so the students are from diverse backgrounds and learn French at different paces. They are a very energetic group and like to share their extravagant ideas.

The animated film Searching for a Vaccine takes us to the year 2098, when an unknown virus has triggered a global pandemic. Two astronauts must venture out into space in order to retrieve materials to create a vaccine and save the population of the Earth. The media production is inspired by the physical movement, the journey into space and an alien planet, which is necessary to find an antidote to the virus. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was a way to travel and find an imaginary alternative to save the population of Earth as quickly as possible.

At each workshop, students were curious to learn more about new media and they set ambitious goals to surpass the expectations of each activity. Their final production reflects this as each student created their own animation in just a few weeks. Indeed, students interpreted the theme of the year literally as they broke down the movement in their drawings and then gave the illusion of continuous movement. These short animations tell us several short stories conveying messages of hope, love and perseverance. The emotions conveyed by The Children’s Moral then set us in motion.

At each workshop, students were fascinated by the different media and tools that were at their disposal. They learned to use new medium to express themselves when words are sometimes lacking. Thus, the strength of the group lies in their cultural differences which are the inspiration for their final media production. These students embody the essence of the theme “Be the Movement,” as it represents their migratory movements, the movement of ideas and the movement of emotions. The Legendary Class in Motion was produced by the students of the group 3A from Saint-Raymond Elementary School. This audacious group stands out for its creativity, curiosity and courage. At each workshop, students were keen to learn about new media and always exceeded the expectations of their classroom projects. So, it is no surprise that this legendary class took on the challenge of making their own animations in just a few weeks. Animation is basically a form of motion illusion using a sequence of images, so it was easy to make the connection with the theme of the year. In addition, the students went further in their reflections on sequences of animated images. These short animations portray the movement of ideas, characters or emotions as seen by the students in group 3A.

    Theme

This fourth-grade group is made up of fifteen extremely curious students. Coming from various cultural backgrounds, students made the decision to undertake a short film project. This medium seemed to be one in which they could all relate. Their fascination with the horror genre confirmed this approach for their film. This allowed them to execute some tricks that they thought would be fun. Early on, the group was intrigued by ways to make it appear as if an invisible entity was present and moving on the screen. Through some sound design techniques, the group was able to represent invisible moving beings in the film using sound. The use of subjective camera was also decided early on, finding that it was a good way to put the viewer in the shoes of the moving beings, without ever seeing them.

    Theme

This fourth-grade group is made up of fifteen dynamic and creative students. Coming from various cultural backgrounds, students share a common situation, namely the confinement and limitations of movement. They decided to undertake a short film project based on this idea. The group, understanding that the source of this limitation of movement is COVID-19, decided to make a mix of a war film and a horror film. The monsters in the film are similar to zombies since, according to the students, the COVID is transmitted like a virus that creates zombies. Furthermore, the COVID-19 makes us weak in addition to preventing our movement. The locations chosen were a classroom that serves as a containment bunker, and combat training bunker, and a hallway whose narrowness forces a confrontation between the hero doctor and zombies. The idea was to fight in a context of limited movement.

    Theme

At the heart of Victor-Rousselot Elementary School is a small class of students coming from all over the world. Uprooted and just landed in Montréal, these students had to quickly adapt to our French culture and a brand new school routine. Following their instincts and preferences for visual media, the class A56 was inspired by the theme “Be the Movement” to produce a short report describing the path they took to come face to face with Youth Fusion.

    Theme

When parks are closed and education classes are cancelled, how do you stay healthy? A question that has been asked often this past year. According to the students at Victor-Rousselot, all it takes is a little bit of interpersonal skills. Following their instincts and preferences for visual media, the class 351 of the Victor-Rousselot Elementary School was inspired by the theme “Be the Movement” to produce a newscast depicting the various ways they choose to stay in motion during the pandemic.
