The Cinema Project Coordinator works with the teacher to integrate film activities into the classroom. Your mandate is to teach young participants (Grade 7 to grade 12, regular classes and / or special education classes) workshops introducing theories and film production. The workshops take place mainly in class, in close collaboration with the teachers. Students will have the chance to discover the different stages involved in the production of a film in order to make a short film of 3 minutes on an annual theme. The latter will be presented during the Annual Youth Fusion Gala which will take place at the end of the school year.

TERMS

  • Part-time
  • $14,50/hour
  • From December to June of the following year
  • Maximum 6 hours per week, per project

  • Possibility of renewal and flexible or regular hours: The schedule is established at the beginning of each session, with the school, respecting the academic obligations of the student.

SPECIFIC CRITERIA

  • To teach young people how to use film equipment, the cinematographic language, the rules related to the composition of the image, screenwriting, sound recording, acting, various cinema professions, etc. ;
  • Animate activities and help students complete all the steps involved in making a short film (pre-production, production and post-production);
  • Organize and manage a film set.

GENERAL CRITERIA

  • Having the students benefit from your expertise by putting forward projects that are integrative, stimulating and wide-ranging;
  • Working closely with the school’s teachers and administrators, and Youth Fusion officials, in order to maximize the project’s impact and awareness within the school;
  • Maintaining a professional relationship with the school (diligent attendance, communications, adherence to the culture and rules of the school environment, etc.);
  • Taking initiative, being creative and a self-starter, in order to effectively contribute to the project’s execution and success;
  • Attending team and progress meetings;
  • Supervising the students and looking after their safety;
  • When needed, representing Youth Fusion, the sponsoring university or the project itself before our partners;
  • Drafting the appropriate reports (midway progress and final reports) as scheduled.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Academic

Currently pursuing a collegiate or university education in a field related to film and/or television, or another program that might be related.

Experience

  • Experience working and interacting with teenagers
  • Experience using film equipment
  • Scriptwriting, directing and editing knowledge

Will be considered as an asset

  • Any experience working with children with learning or behavioural difficulties
  • Volunteer work or any other tangible experience working with youth (day or vacation camps, tutoring, etc.)
  • Must have a strong desire to be a role model for the school’s students, and act as an agent of social change
