Theme: We decided to use the theme of the year, Energy Redefined, in the subject of our film. Indeed, we felt that this theme allowed us to exploit our idea of a detective investigation with a bit of paranormal. In this way, a scientist finding a new energy allowed us to respect the theme of the year.

A PROJECT PROUDLY COMPLETED BY THE STUDENTS OF marie-claude drolet’S CLASS, ACCOMPANIED BY THEIR PROJECT COORDINATOR roxana baloiu.
Theme: Our main characters will have to do everything in their power to accomplish their mission. On the other hand, the other characters will do everything in their power to try to defeat this mission. The energy is seen at the beginning of the game with the book bubbling with energy. Energy is omnipresent throughout the short, from the shock of the librarian to the green juice. A simple juice... until the mixture of ingredients gives it enough energy to turn it into an energizing potion. This energy is also found in the library, in the famous golden book that is teeming with energy, even spreading its energy to anyone who tries to touch it, excluding our wizards, of course. The energy is so powerful that it even manages to teleport our two policemen from one place to another... you really had to redefine it!

A PROJECT PROUDLY COMPLETED BY THE STUDENTS OF johanne ménard’S CLASS, ACCOMPANIED BY THEIR PROJECT COORDINATOR Roxana Baloiu.
Theme: Energy Redefined, what is it? It means thinking twice or turning one thing into another. We redefined energy through the superpowers of our superheroes. Also, the film is about a new invention, a roulette wheel that controls the weather. A rotating energy that controls the temperature. We also transformed places in the school into filming locations; the auditorium became the cave, and our classroom became the safety room. Then, the earthquake was done through a camera movement, another way of transforming the energy. In real life, no one can teleport. There are no wheels that can control the temperature. No one can talk to animals, have superhuman strength or run at the speed of sound and that's how we redefined energy.

Theme: In the story of INVASION, the characters are superheroes who possess several magical powers. These powers deploy a variety of energy sources, each as unique as the next.
First, Luthor the Orc and Black Helmet can teleport and can even communicate telepathically.
In addition, weapons such as the axe, sword and lightning of both clans draw a lot of energy.
Also, the fire teenager is able to create fire and throw it at his opponents.
Even the energy generated by sugar is used in this short film: Super Sugarizing attacks by throwing candy!
The energy provided by the sweets from the other clan's stolen muffins makes them even stronger!
INVASION is a wacky story where the use of different energy sources is overflowing with originality!

Theme: We transformed materials and gave them a second life to make our film. We used recycled cardboard to make our sets and our porthole effect. We also transformed a coat and a hat with the help of makeup to make a wolf costume. During the shooting, we used the energy of all the lights that were available to us: ambient light, sunlight and movie lights. Also, we used the movement of the camera to make it look like we were in a boat. Then, in the editing we used some movements.
La fin de Vortax

|
A PROJECT PROUDLY COMPLETED BY THE STUDENTS OF jasmine charles’S CLASS, ACCOMPANIED BY THEIR PROJECT COORDINATOR roxana baloiu.
Theme: Our movie, Vortax's Power Plant, is about two villains who wanted to destroy the planet by building a thermal power plant. Thanks to the three heroes, Relyt, Billy Bob and Fortune, who captured Vortax and prevented his plan from being carried out. In this one, Vortax takes the energy of Abomination to feed the power plants, a first way to rethink the energy. Afterwards, the power plants are closed down and turned back into an amusement park with rides. It is really necessary to stop the polluting energy for the respect of the environment and to make a natural and green life. Transforming thermal places into natural parks is to redefine the energy and save the planet with less polluting gases. It is a way to redefine energy for the good of the Earth and its inhabitants.

A PROJECT PROUDLY COMPLETED BY STUDENTS OF CHLOÉ FERNANDEZ'S CLASS, ACCOMPANIED BY THEIR PROJECT COORDINATOR MICHEL PATRY.
Theme: Even before watching the short film, it is possible to foresee a link between the title of the film and the theme: Energy Redefined. Chemistry will be an asset for Jessy (the main character) who will try to create a potion in order to give energy to others. Unfortunately, the effects of the potion will not be what he expected and he will start taking energy from those around him.
Afterwards, his friend Lydia will create a new potion to save him, then inject him with it so that everything goes back to the way it was. The link is more precisely with the fact of caring about the energy used, and the film can be seen as a metaphor of our consumer society. The fact of exploiting the different sources of energy for personal needs through various tests while not necessarily knowing all the stakes and the risks involved.

The title refers to the different forms of addiction that are constant among young people in 2023, both cell phones and different ways to stay awake and active. The students will create a sugar traffic in the school to rethink how to stay energetic. It is possible to see the satire and the grotesque in the actions of the characters, as much with the adults as with the youth.

The obsession with winning at all costs will have an impact on the main characters (Sofio and Robert) who will be told by their coach that while it is important to participate, it would be nice to win. Sofio has difficulty running fast and quickly burns out by not using his cardio/energy properly, while Robert has a health problem with a particular condition, which causes Sofio to react negatively when he sees him using his medication, which he feels is a form of cheating.

Theme : For us, to rethink necessarily means to look back on our culture, traditions and stories of our elders. This is where we find our roots, our energy and this is what binds us together. That’s how we interpreted the theme “Rethink energy”.
We grew up getting scared and amazed by stories of Tuurngait, as did generations before us. We wanted to make a movie so our siblings and future children would still be careful about Tuurngait.
Inspiration : Our main inspiration for this movie is the movie Slashback by Nyla Innuksuk (2022). This movie was really relatable to us as Inuit teenagers, and we wanted to create another movie in which we could see both our culture and girl power thrive. We really liked the storyline, where we follow a group of girls fighting a monster by using Inuit culture props as ulus, painted tatoos and hunting gear. We decided to use similar storyline, but to adapt it to our own group of friends and to a famous figure from storytelling here in Umiujaq, the Tuurngaq. We also got inspired by the slow motion fighting shots.
For the costume design of the Tuurngaq, the scary night setting and the framing, we got inspired by another inuit movie: Nalujuk Night by Jennie Williams (2021). It was important for us to get inspired by Inuit made movies, since our goal was to represent inuit culture.

Theme: The theme "Rethinking Energy" inspired the students in the form of life energy. Knowing that they wanted to make a horror film and wanted to talk about their deepest fears. One fear that came up consistently in our discussions was that of having their own life energy sucked out of them; becoming, in some way, shells of themselves. The idea of a monster on the loose, taking away that life energy, was accompanied by the idea—much worse!—that no one would believe them. Then came the idea of setting the film in a mental asylum... And the concept of "THE HAND" was born.

Theme: Prorex has created a light-hearted drama that advocates ecology. First in scene 1, our characters do not accept waste and garbage on the floor. An argument ensues. Then in scene 2, one of the main character's friends explains the positive effects of public transportation and the negative effects of the car from both an economic and ecological point of view. At the end of this scene, the main character understands that it is important to take care of the planet. He then goes to join his friends at the restaurant and explains them his idea of new energy that he had in the subway station.

Theme: Through macabre rituals, the members of the Island Park sect draw energy from the skeletons of their victims to make them grow in power. In this case, the numerous disappearances can take the form of an addiction for these people in constant search of energy. The short film "Where is Sylvestre?" can be seen as a satire of a performance society where to obtain the energy necessary for the functioning of the human body, the latter can no longer be satisfied with a good meal and a good night's sleep.

Theme: Faced with the theme of "Energy Redefined," the ESPAT students were inspired by the energy that music gives them. They imagined an enchanted music room in which the instruments start to play themselves. Reflecting on the emotions the instruments could bring to their lives, they thought of melancholy; of a young boy, thinking about the difficulties of his life — and how this musical energy could lead him on a new path... But this time, full of hope.

A PROJECT PROUDLY COMPLETED BY THE STUDENTS OF STEVE MUOIO’S CLASS, ACCOMPANIED BY THEIR PROJECT COORDINATOR MARIE-FLEUR KIM.
Theme : Ethan is starting at a new school that his grandfather previously attended. Although Ethan was hesitant, his best friend Jeffrey manages to convince him to join the school’s Art Club to help him socialize. During the first meeting, however, he overhears his classmates gossiping about his family’s history. That evening Ethan discovers the truth behind his grandfather’s past.
Our film “Revenant Art” made by Blackout Studios connects to the theme of “Rethink Energy”. This can be seen throughout the film as you see Ethan struggling with his anxiety. His grandfather and best friend, Jeffrey, tried to bring him out of his comfort zone, even if it’s something small they knew some good would come out of it. This ended up to be true when Ethan helped Audrey show her true story. In turn, Ethan was able to meet new people and focus his energy into something more meaningful. As well as improving his family’s reputation and subsequently helping with his grandfather’s fears.
We took inspiration from the movie “L’Arracheuse de Temps”, that we saw in Film Club. In the movie there were apples that grew from a tree that had been affected by death, causing anyone who ate them to become ill. The main character , Bernadette, strives to reveal the truth behind the apples. This connects to the painting in our film since it also symbolizes the truth that Audrey showed in her painting. This also had an effect on the grandfather’s reputation and Ethan’s school experience. Also, in both movies, we can see that death is not the end but could be the beginning of a bigger story.

Theme : In our movie a hamburger turns white because of an experiment gone wrong. The scientists tested the hamburger out by putting electrical wires in it which caused the burger to be reproduced. By doing this experiment, the scientists used a little bit of energy and made food for the whole world. With this knowledge you can go to poor places in the world and feed lots of people.
This movie shows the theme “Rethinking Energy” by focusing on energy. Together we can solve world hunger and keep people fed. In a similar way, if people keep working together reproducing food, people can make peace and solve racism and war.
Our movie is similar to the movie we watched in class called the stamp traveler because the boy wants to collect very rare and famous and popular stamps no matter how old they are and make a collection out of it. Their stamps are valuable, Therefore our food we reproduce in the movie is as valuable as their stamps but to feed people.

A PROJECT PROUDLY COMPLETED BY STUDENTS OF marie-josée roy'S CLASS, ACCOMPANIED BY THEIR PROJECT COORDINATOR Thierry grandbois.
Theme: The Ear Breaker is a short film made by the CPFC 905 group from Camaradière High School. It tells the story of an art teacher, Mrs. Magalie, who falls asleep while correcting students' work. When she wakes up, three characters are in front of her: Santa Claus, a musician and a fisherman. All three have been taken out of their respective worlds and found themselves trapped in Magalie's dream. Together, they try to find a way to return to their reality. They discover that when they make a noise, a light comes on in Magalie's office. By working together, taking the energy of each character, they will find a solution. The sound energy causing the increase in decibels will allow Magalie to wake up. This is how the class integrated and represented the theme of the year Rethinking Energy.

Theme : In our movie, there were a tremendous amount of ways that the theme of “rethinking energy” was utilized. The main character, Lani, had difficulty concentrating during her classroom instruction and had to try and stay awake but used her final ounce of energy and went into her imaginary world. This enabled Lani to escape the dreadful and monotonous voice of her teacher, and renew her angst (energy) into a new form that would allow her to look awake and escape the boredom.

A PROJECT PROUDLY COMPLETED BY STUDENTS OF Catherine pouliot-bernard'S CLASS, ACCOMPANIED BY THEIR PROJECT COORDINATOR véronique mcnealis.
Theme: The Fight for Climate has several links to this year's theme, "Energy Redefined," a slogan named by reporter Bruno Lebrun. At the beginning of the film, the reporters cover a demonstration for climate protection in which plastic pollution is denounced. Then, aliens interrupt the demonstration and threaten to take over planet Earth because of the pollution caused by human activity, which will force humanity to rethink energy. Bruno Lebrun's idea is to give all the oil on planet Earth to the aliens, so that humanity will rethink energy in a less polluting way.

Theme: The plot of the movie The Devil and the Night is related to the theme Energy Redefined, since the young woman, who is the main character, thinks about spiritual energies and discovers a spiritual life for herself at the movie’s ending. Thanks to the narrator, you learn that she did not believe in sky beings at first, and that her spirituality was not very developed in the initial situation. Having lost her lucky charm and having the devil’s curse in the night, Nouroundam, had made her believe in spiritual energies. Thus, the young woman sees the spiritual energies in her nightmares, which obliged her to think differently about energy and to give time for spiritual rituals of protection against her dreams.

Theme: Energy Redefined, what does it mean? According to Einstein, energy (E) is equal to the mass (M) multiplied by the speed of light. According to Mr. Poussin, energy has no limit and all this means nothing. Let's redefine energy!
Inspiration: War, war... that's no reason to get hurt! Shepherd's pie should be a unifying element. The soft, the hard, the crunchy and the mashed potato form a whole to remind us that like these ingredients, we are different but connected to each other. We are the smell that makes people salivate and should not be divided according to who likes or dislikes onions.

Theme: Presented with the concept of "Energy Redefined," the students immediately thought of human energy, and souls. Fans of horror movies and slashers, the students decided to create a story where a prison guard sucks out the souls of prisoners. A kind of vampire, a strange wanderer from another time feeding on defenceless prisoners. The idea of this central character, Jean, inspired them to create the rest of the story—the first film of Studio Jean-Âme.
