Project coordinator shepherds students through the process of running the Student Council. The purpose is to encourage Council members to become role models for their peers to promote community involvement at a young age.

Each year, at springtime, Youth Fusion organizes Cree Youth Leadership conferences:

  • Elementary School Leadership Conference (in Eastmain),
  • High School Leadership Conference (in Waswanipi).

A delegation of students involved in leadership activities year round assembles for 4 days to take part in dynamic or traditional activities:

  • town treasure hunt,
  • anti-bullying forum,
  • crafting traditional arrow tips,
  • drawing a mural, etc.

“Youth Fusion provides much-needed leadership and extra-curricular activities for our students, which has contributed to an increase of our overall student attendance and has helped increase the self-esteem and confidence of many of our students. I believe these activities and the general presence of Youth Fusion workers in our school have contributed to our increased graduation rate over the past four years.”
