Project name: Mountain
Medium: Our project was made online using applications like TinkerCAD, we used it to cut out 16 holes in the front piece of our project which had a mountain engraved on it, and we 3D printed out our lithophanes. We had our pieces of our mountain delivered to each of our houses and we each painted it with watercolor paint.
Our project is a laser cut board with a mountain engraved on it and 16 holes cut out in the formation of a circle. In each hole there would be a lithophane that had an icon in it, each icon represented an activity related to adventure.

Project name : Forest
Medium: For the project, we mainly used tinkercad.com to create laser-cut files of trees and the back (wood part) of the people, then stained the wood. We used photopea.com to make the silhouettes of the people.
Our project is a forest that has one half which is alive and healthy, and the other half is dead and rotten-like. There are people helping the forest to make it healthier. We have people taking care of the environment...

Project name: Social Justice Turtle
Medium: Our turtle and the shells were all laser cut with wood. From there we used various techniques; engraving, using melted crayons and painting with watercolor and black acrylic paint to decorate the shells and body parts of the turtle. After all of the turtle parts were decorated and finished we assembled everything like a puzzle using wood glue.
The turtle as a whole was made up of many laser cut pieces. These pieces include 7 main hexagonal shells and the body including the head, arms, legs, the rim around the shells and the tail. The turtle and everything in each shell has something that we need to fight for, which is equality. Overall our final project represents social justice. 3 shells were made with the same techniques which include engraving and painting with black acrylic paint. These 3 shells are the Black Lives Matter fist, the gender equality shell which has a male and female symbol combined with an equal sign in the middle and the center shell which has an equal sign that ties everything together. The remaining shells include a pride flag made with melted crayons, a symbol that represents animal equality that was engraved and painted, as well as a globe symbolizing world equality. This was engraved and painted with watercolor. The last shell that we have as part of our project is an Indigenous symbol that was painted with watercolor. The rest of the turtle including all of the body parts were painted with green watercolor paint. The head and two arms of the turtle each have a sentence/quote engraved on it. These quotes include “Fight today for a better tomorrow” and “All bodies are beautiful”.

Project name: Five Aspects of Mental Wellness
Medium: We used photopea on our computers for the animation.
A rotoscope animation is where you take a video and you trace every frame and then you make it so that it's only the traced version showing, not the original video. We traced five videos that represent mental wellness. It goes from Adam cutting potatoes which represents eating healthy, then transitions to Ella doing push ups which represents being active, then transitions to Luke doing yoga which represents meditation, then transitions to Josey sleeping which represents sleeping.

Project name: Jefferey
Medium: The materials we used are acrylic and wood. We used tinkercad to make the laser cut files for the acrylic. Using a laser cutter we engraved a football field onto some wood. We then cut that into six separate pieces for us to paint.
Our project is six laser cut pieces of acrylic with silhouettes of people playing different sports engraved on each. Each piece of acrylic is lit up with LEDs and each will have its own wooden base. Our background is wood laser cut into the shape of a football field which we painted.

Title of the project/theme of the collective: The Art of Deception
Medium: drawing, animation, programs (Motion Loop, Pixel art, GIMP and Krita)
To start, the DBCE team has a project on the theme of optical illusion.
Why? Simply because everyone in this team wanted to learn more about this theme. Each one of us chose a customized art on optical illusion. For instance, Manuela L. is working on an endless tunnel, Marilou is working on a shape with no exit, Harry is working on an infinite path and lastly, Mélodie is working on 3D. To conclude, optical illusion is a fabulous art that allows you to do a lot of things and this team is taking advantage of it.
Title of the work : Tunnel infini (Infinite Tunnel)
Artist : Manuella Linda Eduardo
Medium : Zoetropic and drawing
My work is a never-ending whirlpool that feels like the tunnel in the animation film Coraline. I didn’t add colour, because I just couldn’t see myself adding it.
Title of the work : Triéternel (Trieternal)
Artist : Harry Ding
Medium : Krita and Giphy
My project is an endless loop of a Sierpinski triangle. It gives the illusion that the drawing is infinitely enlarged.
Title of the work: Untitled
Artist: Marilou Boudrias
Medium : GIMP, Pixilart, Video Creator
My project is on an optical illusion, because that is what my team and I have been focusing on! In short, my project is an infinite geometric shape if we can say that. In fact, it is a geometric shape composed of 4 triangles and 1 cube. It’s made in 3D, so I added a sphere moving from line to line over the entire geometric shape, since it looked empty. This represents the whole of the optical illusion (the image) and the sphere (the movement). The movement is the subject of the presentation.
Title of the work: L’art du mouvement (The Art of Movement)
Artist: Mélodie Châteauvert
Medium : Computer, GIMP
To fit with my team’s topic, which is optical illusion, my project is a photo montage that represents movement (preferably a depth view), made with the GIMP software, then the resulting image is modified to give a 3D illusion, with blue, red, black and white layers. But the fact that it’s a bit blurry is normal, that’s the point.

Title of the project/theme of the collective: optical illusion
Medium: drawing and Gimp
We chose optical illusion, because it looked like a lot of fun. Also, it’s a good challenge, because it’s not always easy to create an optical illusion. We all did our illusions on the Gimp software except Hugo Ouimet who did it on a sheet of paper. Then, we all took inspiration from an image on Google.
Title of the work: Lignes brisées (Broken Lines)
Artist: Mathieu
Medium : GIMP
I used two different colours; white and purple. There are several broken lines that form some kind of moving staircase.
Title of the work: Roue triangulaire (Triangular Wheel)
Artist : Félix Ayotte
Medium : GIMP
Six Penrose triangles that form a spinning hexagon thanks to GIPHY.
Title of the work : Les lignes croches (Crooked Lines)
Artist : Antoine
Medium : GIMP
I used two colours: red and green. I changed the thickness of the lines in some places to make them look like they were crooked.
Title of the work: Untitled
Artist : Hugo Ouimet
Medium : drawing

Les résolus (The resolute ones)
Title of the project/theme of the collective: Nature and Fantasy
Medium: drawing, animation, programs (Pixel art, Gimp and Krita)
(Adaptation en anglais):
Our project is about nature
The creation of Mother Nature
Whose environment is a glitch
Like a catastrophe
That distorts the pitch
In a dream of wonder
Forecasting a sky filled with thunder
The end of the world announcement
That is coming up in a moment
A new project is emerging
Summarizing our well-being
Whose shape is a ring
That links our deepest feeling.
Title of the work : Au cœur des paysages (In the Heart of Landscapes)
Artist : Dana Chan
Medium : pencil drawing, GIMP, HitFilm Express and ZapSplat (for the audio).
My project represents movement through motionless images that demonstrate the movements found in nature. We can find movements that exist since the creation of Earth, like the wind, something untouchable by humans. In my project, there are ambient sounds in various natural landscapes. It is up to you to imagine the story, or simply observe the vivid images and colours and relax to the sound of the waves and wind. Each section can evoke a different emotion. Here is the process explaining how the project was created: I started by drawing using pencils, and then, I took a photo of each section to import them into GIMP to clean, modify and then colour each image using brushes better suited for colour transitions/gradients. To clean them up, I adjusted the brightness as well as the contrast, etc., and then I retraced some lines that seemed more diluted before colouring the sections. For my layers, I changed my initial drawing in multiplied mode and then added a white layer underneath so I could colour on my transparent layers without worrying about avoiding the drawn lines. The last step was to import each section into the HitFilm software. For the editing, I edited my video, added transitions and added audio files from the ZapSlat website (credits are at the end of the video to respect the licence).
Title of the work: Smiley Cloudy
Artist : Mélodie L
Medium : GIMP, Giphy
For the project, my work, whose theme is “movement,” is simply a smiling cloud that runs on the screen, but towards the middle, the screen starts to glitch and it changes in “dark” mode or what I called “corrupt” mode. In this mode, the background with holes represents a phobia that some people have, “trypophobia” or the fear of holes. This phobia is one of the things that gives me goosebumps. When I look at them, I found them ugly and scary.
Title of the work : Métérolypse (Meterolypse)
Artist : Luka Desmeules
Medium : GIMP
This is a small animation of a meteorite that breaks through the atmosphere and crashes into the ocean. This gives a little bit of a glitch in the world because of the impact of the meteorite, but it was from a camera perspective that will try to reconnect to the video image just to witness a desert world.
Title of the work : True
Artist : Rithy Plong
Medium : Pixilart.com
This project represents the real extinction of dinosaurs with an artistic touch to make it look nice. This work was done by hand, pixel by pixel, over a long period of time through PixilArt software.
P.S. All of this is only a fiction represented in a humorous way and it is not reality.
